Killing Nazis

Hello People.

Gonna be a really short post today. Don't have really much to blog about this days. I wonder why. 2 days time I'm gonna be watching some movies. So that should keep the blog a tad interesting for a while.

Anyways, if you haven't already known, Dickson has a new blog URL.

Please relink him at: http://iwannabe-successful.blogspot.com/

LOLS. Funny name for a blog title...

Now on to my main reason for blogging today.

Plot:

In German-occupied France, Shosanna Dreyfus witnesses the execution of her family at the hand of Nazi Colonel Hans Landa. Shosanna narrowly escapes and flees to Paris, where she forges a new identity as the owner and operator of a cinema.

Elsewhere in Europe, Lieutenant Aldo Raine organizes a group of Jewish soldiers to engage in targeted acts of retribution. Known to their enemy as "The Basterds," Raine's squad eventually joins German actress and undercover agent Bridget Von Hammersmark on a mission to take down the leaders of The Third Reich. Fates converge under a cinema marquee, where Shosanna is poised to carry out a revenge plan of her own.

Written & Directed by Quentin Taratino, this war movie will be out in October. At least that's what MSN is saying. Gonna be really awesome. Just watch the trailer. I think it's brutally funny.

Living The Hours

Hello People.

Just here to change the blog song.

I have the biggest feeling this is going to be one of the most boring days EVER! Like no one is online. Those online are eithr busy or aaway. And I don't have the mood to play Left 4 Dead.

This week's song is by Funeral For A Friend. It's called Roses For The Dead. This song is actually kinda old, from 2005. But it's still a good listen anytime I'm down. One of my favourite songs by FFAF. Their new album sucks. They should just make albums like Hours, which this song is from.

Ciao..

Number 400

Hello People!

Man, it's been a long time for this blog. Not as long as others of course, but still in my book this blog has been here ages. I have been thinking of deleting this blog for a long time, but everytime after I come to a desiciong to do it, I always think twice and decide not to about 5 mminutes later. This blog just contains too much. Too much memories..

Anyways, I finally headed down to the theater yesterday. Courtersy of my Dad, we went to watch Gran Torino. Haha. I sort of psycho-ed him to go, cause I knew he wanted to watch the movie also. Will be able to save money if I watch with him.

I will start of being saying Gran Torino is a true masterpiece. Honestly, I am having a difficult time thinking about what to say for this movie. Everything about it is just so good. Clint Eastwood plays his role as a disgrunted Korean-War veteran to perfection. His supporting cast, mostly made up of Asians also did a good job. While watching the movie, I can feel the emotional impact each character has on the movie. They help to bring the story to live. Another great thing about the movie is the storyline. Escpecially the climax, which was purely emotionally gripping. It was so ewmotional that I was ALMOST moved to tears.

Seriously, if you have time for one movie this week or for the next few weeks, save some money and catch this great masterpiece. This cements Clint Eastwood as one of Hollywood's GREATEST actor and filmaker of all time.

Rating: 5/5 (That's how much I love this fucking movie)

Another time about movies. Sometimes I'm seriously fucked up. Just a few weeks again, I was sneaking into 2 back to back M18 movies without any problems. Yesterday, the usher actually asked me for my IC when I was heading into the theater. I really don't know. Do I really look that young? Cause I have been called UNCLE by some people. LOLS! So I really dont know..

Opening This Week

Hello People.

It's been a long time since I did this, cause I didn't visit the theaters and I don't want posters of movies being shown here to remind me of what I am missing. Thank god April is near. Paul Blart & Shopaholic here I come!

Anyways, this are the movies opening this week:

1) Confessions Of A Shopaholic

Trailer:

Plot:

Based on the book by Sophie Kinsella, "Confessions Of A Shopaholic" is about one Rebecca Bloomwood who unintentionally lands a job writing for a boring financial magazine. Ironically writing about the very consumer caution of which she herself has not abided, Rebecca's wins critical acclaim, public success, and the admiration of her supportive boss Luke. But as she draws closer to her ultimate goal of writing for renowned fashion magazine Alette, she questions her true ambitions and must determine if overcoming her "shopaholic" condition will bring her real happiness.

100% pure chick flick. Bit whatever, seems nice so I'm gonna catch it..! Yay for me!

2) Fan Boys (NC-16)

Trailer:

Plot:

A fanatical group of Star Wars devotees from the Midwest travel across the country to honour the wish of their dying friend: to watch "Star Wars: Episode I-The Phantom Menace" at George Lucas' Skywalker Ranch before the movie's worldwide release.

Hmms..fan boys. For Star Wars fans I guess. That means me. But highly doubt will have the financial capabilities to watch this. 2 movies next weeks. Oh wait actually it's 3.

3) Gran Torino (NC-16)

Trailer:

Plot:

Korean War veteran Walt Kowalski becomes increasingly unhappy with the arrival of some Hmong people into his neighbourhood. When neighbour Tao was caught trying to steal Walt's vintage 1972 Gran Torino, the boy is forced to work for Kowalski. Isolated from his own family members and having just lost his wife, Kowalski gradually becomes friendly with Tao and his family. Eventually he learns about Hmong culture even. Soon, Walt loses his racist side and becomes protective to Tao and his sister from gang harassment.

If you have to watch only one movie this weekend, let Gran Torino be the one for you. Just look at the trailer! Fucking fantastic!

Enjoy the trailers! Head down to the cinemas soon.

Two Weeks

Hello People.

Man, it has been 2 weeks since i last when to the movies. And it has been a fucked up experience for me. I swear I want to go to the movies. I wanna watch Race To Witch Mountain, Paul Blart and next week's Confession Of A Shopaholic.

Of cause I'm gonna be watching Paul Blart and Shopaholic, but not in th mean time. Cause currently I have fucked up my pocket money and my savings. LOLS. My parents changed their pocket money giving ways. So insteadof getting money everyweek, I get one month's worht of pocket money and I have to manage to spendsing myself. It's is fucking tough. In 3 weeks, I have used up all of the money, plus 70 bucks of my saving.

But the huge problem is I cannot remember what I have spent it on.

If anyone got a good saving money plan, please introduce. Cause I have to seriously allocate some money to last me 4 weeks per month.

I currently cannot really go out too, cause my ez link card money is also 0. Fucked up shit..I know!

Being broke sucks...

But on the good side, April is just one week away. That means my pocket money will be here. It also means school is just 2 weeks away now..

Local Area Network

Hello People!

Today woke up early to follow the guys (and a girl) down to Ngee Ann Poly to get their laptops. This is the second time visiting the campus. Was there for like 3 hours and found the school extremely big, with a lot of slopes and stairs. They got like 3 (maybe more) canteens, which all seem pretty cool. But I don't regret my decision going to SHATEC, even though I'm kinda nervous as school starts in 3 weeks.

Came home by cab with everyone. They came over to install Left 4 Dead on their computer. Mostly everyone got Acer, other than Emily, who got Fugitsu, cause it was pink in color.

My house official became an unofficial LAN shop for a day. Everyone was connected to my wireless. But amazing, everyone's computer didn't really lag that much. So far, we have almost an army of Left 4 Dead players. OK, not truly army like, but it's still alot.

People playing L4D are (that I know of):

Me
Vin
Shane
Dickson
QC
Yan Ling
Wei Zhi
Emily
JK

Other than Vin's computer, which is a really cool white Sony Vaio, I installed Left 4 Dead for everyone. That's like 8 people. Tiring. But it's gonna be really fun cause we can all play together now. Hope it doesn't get boring.

Once I get my new com, SATURDAY!!!, it's not gonna lag too mad anymore. Plus the screen is gonna be bigger, like 20 inches wide I think, so I can kill zombie in wide screen mode. Awesomeness!!!

If ya don't know what L4D is, here is a brief introduction:

What's it about?

The game pits four people—appropriately called the Survivors—of an apocalyptic pandemic against hordes of the Infected, zombie-like aggressive infected people. There are three game modes: a single player mode in which allied characters are controlled by AI; a four-player, co-op Campaign mode; and an eight-player Versus mode. In all modes, an AI, dubbed "The Director", controls level pacing and item spawns, in an attempt to create a dynamic experience and increase replay value.

A bit of introduction:

That would be basically how the game is played. Instead of third person, you actually play first person view. So think of it as Counter-Strike, but killing zombies instead of terrorists.

Enjoy.

Ciao..

Left 4 Dead

Hello People.

Went to eat Yuki Yaki like erm, 3 days ago. Yes, 3 days ago. We went to eat it on Saturday. Only reason I'm blogging now it's cause I didn't have the laptop for the past 2 days. Mum took it back again. But it's back now so it's all good.

Yuki Yaki's food was decent. Nothing fantastic but it was still fun cause we cooked the food ourselves. I ain't a cameraman anymore so I didn't take any photos. But let me assure you it was pure fun there. JK came, which was amazing cause we haven't seen him in a bit. It's actually about a month since I last saw him playing ball with us.

The main highlight of the day for me wasn't Yuki Yaki though, although that's really the main reason we went out. We went to PC Bunk a.k.a The Bunk to play LAN. It was a really last minute decision. The original plan was to watch Coming Soon, which is the new Thai movie. Vin said it was nice, according to the trailer that is. so we decided to go catch it. Sadly, the movie was at 12.20am, cause it was sneak preview and sneaks ain't ever early, which is sad. So after a brief trip to Millenia Walk, we took a cab down to Plaza Singapura.

Some SOBs took freaking long to come down, which got Yan Ling real pissed off. She was practically shouting over the phone and her face was totally fierce. But the shouting was probably cause of he noise in the Bunk. We went to play Left 4 Dead.

Was teamed up with Shane & JK. The others (Vin, Yan Ling, Dickson, QC + Emily) were in another group. 2 hours went by really quick, and after that 2 hours, all wanted to play Left 4 Dead. Can't wait till Wednesday..

Now, moving on to some music. Really into Lady GaGa now, cause Vin was like listening to it and asked me to listened to. So I went to listen to it on Yan Ling's iPod and was hooked. I knew Pokerface but I went to listen to Just Dance and it was just as amazing.

Pokerface:

Just Dance Ft. Colby O' Donis:

I'm not listening to her cause she's hot and all. She has some really decent tunes man. But OK, you gotta admit her videos are really really hot..

Some other music I'm listening to right now:

Kevin Rudolf Ft. Lil' Wayne - Let It Rock

I'm not really a fan of Lil' Wayne. Just listen to abit of his song, but I have to say this is one talented guy.

Colby O' Donis Ft. Akin - What You Got

Abit old but it's still a good listen.

Enjoy the music!

Ciao..

Watchmen

Hello People.

Finally 6th March arrived and at 2.45pm today, I went to watch my second M18 movie in 2 days. If you don't already know, I went to watch Watchmen.

Watchmen, Watchmen, Watchmen. Let me start of by saying that I was rather disappointed by the film. I thought that it was going to be an action packed show, but it turned out to be more like a drama. Ok, there was a lot of dialogue. just like The Dark Knight. But the difference is that at least the storyline for The Dark Knight was interesting, whereas the storyline of Watchmen was draggy and confusing.

I didn't read the graphic novel and in fact didn't know about the graphic novel until the movie was going to be shown. Like I found out only last year. So I didn't know much about the storyline. The one saving grace of the film was the action scenes. They were visually intense. If there was one thing I liked most, it has got to be the action scenes. They do some of the slow motion thing, which allows you to visualize the power of the punch and kicks. That was really cool.

Although Watchmen is rated M18 for violence and sexual scenes, there is very little of both. The most violent scene is just some prison dude getting his hands cut of by a circular saw. Nothing much. The sex scene is just last than a minute. I know Singapore cut it cause I read that it was supposed to be about 3 minutes long. The uncut version is R21. I so cannot wait for the DVD to come out, then I'll be able to watch the uncut version. Maybe there will be more violence in it, cause frankly, calling this a violent movie would be an insult to violent films. Oh, and Desolation Row at the end of credits was just cool.

Rating: 3/5

If you wanna watch it, wait for the DVD or something. Wanna watch an M18 show? Just watch My Bloody Valentine, in 3 fucking D. It's a completely different experience from a 2D movie. And how many times would a horror movie be out in 3D? Friday the 13th ain't! So watch in 3D!!! But if horror movie ain't your thing and you still wanna watch an M18 show, Watchmen might be just for you.

My favorite superhero form the movie:

Dude is called Rorschach, and he is 100% coolness. Oh, and he is crazy. Like sick in the head. That's why he is so cool. Dude dies though..it's sad!

And Silk Spectre is hot. I swear, seriously hot! It's like Jessica Alba playing Invisible Woman, with all that latex. Mm..

Hotness!

I love the Smiley:

I want that smiley badge too..

Ciao..

PS: Buying new Acer desktop soon. Got recommended by QC to get a com with this specs:

Counting Down The Hours

WATCHMEN IN 16 HOURS BITCHES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SO FUCKING EXCITING!!!!!!!

Like A Date Movie From Hell

Hello Hello PEOPLE!!

I went to watch my first ever M18 movie in the cinemas today. Yea, I didn't go to watch Underworld: Rise Of The Lycans nor The Punisher: War Zone. But I currently own the War Zone DVD already so it's all GOOD! So what better to way to start my M18 movie experience by watching the 3D horror movie, My Bloody Valentine.

My Bloody Valentine 3D is the remake of the 1982 slasher flick of the same name. just that this time, its 3D. To me, I wouldn't say that the movie is very scary. Of cause, that just me cause I watched shitloads of horror films. But this film is kind of gory. Not over the top blood carnage, but still pretty loads of blood. The film is so surreal, due to the 3D effects, which is mind blowing by the way. You actually feel like the pickax is gonna fly and hit you right in the face. But after you blink, it's gone. That's the only thing that made the movie a tiny bit scary. The killing was normal, as in all slasher movies. People always die. It's cliche the way the characters die though, for example pierced through the eye, but it was still fun to watch. I actually laughed during some of the deaths, cause it was funny. I think I'm a sick head, cause no one was laughing the movie. What The Fuck!

Overall, I think the movie was entertaining. It has everything a horror movie needs. Blood & Sex. Yes, there is FULL FRONTAL NUDITY in the film. Something I didn't really expected to see due to all the PG & NC-16 movies I watched in the cinemas. But now, I'm one grade up. Just R21 to go now! The only bad part of the movie is that since it's a remake, you cannot change who the killer is. You'll know who the killer is if you had watch the original version. But I highly doubt any of y'all did so it's all cool.

Rating: 4/5

TOMORROW! IT'S TIME FOR THE WATCHMEN!!!

CIAO..

PS: A BIG THANK YOU TO GINA FOR HELPING ME BUY BOTH TICKETS!!!

Bob Dylan

Hello People.

As you know, this week it's all about the movie, Watchmen. Hence, there is so many post about the movie on my blog. Am so gonna watch it tomorrow, although I just found out that it's on in cinemas already. It's really really tempting to go watch it today, but I must watch it tomorrow, if not I'll have nothing to do in the afternoon!

So, this week's blog song would also be a song from the Watchmen Original Soundtrack. It's a cover of Bob Dylan (Who is he? Some old singer..) by My Chemical Romance. The song is called Desolation Row, and would be featured at the end of Watchmen movie during the credits roll.

Here is the music video for the video. It's actually good to see Gerard have his nice long black hair again. Do some Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge album man. For god sake, The Black Parade was some garbage album. Seriously!

Enjoy the music!!

Ciao..

Who's Watching the Watchmen?

Hello People.

Man, it's been kinda long since I last blogged. That was on Monday. I haven't been on the com cause well, my erm..mother took it away. I think cause I have using it for too long. But what the hell am I supposed to do man. If there was something in the house that is much more interesting to do than using the computer, I swear I would much rather do it than sit in front of this fucking screen for such a long time.

Also, I huge thanks to the people that came today. I hoped you enjoyed the food. Please feel free to voice out any opinions on how I can improve it, no matter how bad it may sound. Maybe I can improve it, cause I think the food still ain't that good. And it won't be curry rice the next time, maybe some Japanese noodles. Cause like since the first time y'all come, it's always been curry rice. If you don't find it boring, I kinda do. So, next time, noodles..no more fucking rice!

If you weren't invited, it ain't cause I hate you or anything. It is because there was already too many people coming. My original plan was to only have 5-6 people coming, but it was increased to 7. Today, I had 9 people coming over. There almost wasn't enough rice, cause my rice cooker ain't big enough, it can only cook 5 cups of rice. LOLS! I know, it's like that cause it's old as fuck. And there also almost wasn't enough curry to go around. In the end, I didn't have a chance to eat. But it's cool, as long as y'all enjoy, it's alright. So you see, I'll have to cook at least 2 pots of curry next time and get a bigger rice cooker, so that more people can come and they can at least have second helping. I think people like Shane didn't have enough to eat. And I feel pretty sad QC couldn't make it today. I miss my assistant chef..

OK, now moving to my main topic: the new up-and-coming superhero movie: WATCHMEN!!

If, like me you're really hyped up and haven't read the comic book, (Yes! Watchmen is actually based on a comic book. Please say you knew that?)and still want to watch it, here is a really quick but detailed run through of the characters.

Now, the HEROES!!!

Concept: The Comedian got his start back in the early days of costumed heroics in a costume patterned after clowns, but Blake was always one of the more violent heroes, in an obvious and no doubt intended contradiction. The Comedian's costume evolved to be more armored, with shoulder pads adorned with U.S. flag imagery, with a "smiley face" button on his chest to keep the "Comedian" motiff. Not himself being super-powered, The Comedian enjoyed using dangerous weapons like big honking guns, grenade launchers and flame throwers.

History: Back in the Minutemen days, The Comedian was the team's youngest member, and also the one that caused the most friction within the group, leading to a violent confrontation with another hero named Hooded Justice. Over time, Blake turned out to be the hero most eager to work directly for the U.S. government as a soldier and assassin around the world, most notably in Vietnam (along with Dr. Manhattan). In the 1970s, The Comedian teamed up with Nite Owl to help control civilian anti-hero protests, but clearly The Comedian enjoyed "controlling" the mobs a bit too much. Blake's violent death by defenestration at the beginning of Watchmen is the event that kicks off the rest of the story.

Concept: Vigilantes are rare in the real world, but when we do hear about them, they are often associated with psychological conditions. Such is the case with Rorschach, whose mask is based upon the inkblots of the same name, and who himself has a severely disturbing psychological background. The son of a prostitute, Kovacs took on the identity of Rorschach as a way to mete out his own type of dark justice on the world, which frequently included mutilation and murder. Rorschach's key piece of equipment is a grappling hook gun, but he also shows a MacGyver-like knack for improvising household items into weapons. Rorschach is most famous as the narrator for much of Watchmen and his dark view of the world, which includes rants about all the forces he perceives as being responsible for the world's ills. These rants display a strong sense in moral absolutism and moral objectivism, as well as very anti-communist, anti-liberal views.

History: Rorschach got his start trying to be a "good" costumed adventurer, but an encounter in 1975 with a murderer who fed a young girl to his dogs flipped Rorschach from being a man who wore a mask to being a mask who was also a man, and just as violent as any criminals. Early in his crimefighting career, Rorschach teamed up with Nite Owl (who supplied him with his grappling hook gun). When the Keene Act outlawed costumed vigilantes, Nite Owl retired, but Rorschach never did. A wanted man, Rorschach frequently finds himself simultaneously fighting both the police and the criminals he's after.

Concept: Lacking the conviction of someone like Rorschach, Nite Owl is the ultimate example of someone who seemed perfectly targeted by the Keene Act which made costumed adventuring illegal. Drawing inspiration from the first Nite Owl (a member of the older Minutemen team) and his own interest in owls, Dan Dreiberg was arguably an engineering genius who invented his own air ship, the Owlship, and lots of gadgets and specialized costumes with which to fight crime.

History: Coming into the costumed hero scene at around the same as Rorschach (the early 1960s), Nite Owl (II) was driven into early retirement by the Keene Act. Keeping the Owlship and all his gadgets in a dusty garage, Dan spent the next 10 years getting chubby, spending a lot of time with the original Nite Owl (who retired years earlier) and secretly obsessing nostalgically about his good old days as a superhero.

Concept: Laurie Juspeczyk was pushed by her mother, the original Silk Spectre, into the hero business at an early age. Like most of the heroes in the world of Watchmen, Laurie has no actual superpowers. But she is very agile and athletic and she's very big on kicking bad guys in the face.

History: Taking over her mother's hero moniker as a teenager, Laurie quickly fell in love with Dr. Manhattan, and when most other heroes were forced into retirement, she moved in with Dr. Manhattan, living in his quarters on a government military base. Manhattan's growing disillusionment with the human race, however, causes friction in their relationship, and as Watchmen starts, Laurie finds herself attracted to another costumed adventurer.

Concept: In a world of superheroes who face down evil without superpowers, Dr. Manhattan is an exception. As a scientist at a government facility in the early 1950s, Dr. Jonathan Osterman's body is destroyed in an experiment. By the sheer force of his own will, Osterman is able to put his body back together, atom by atom, and demonstrates an amazing ability to understand and control matter and energy at even the smallest levels. With blue skin and a wide array of abilities that include teleportation, disintegration and an awareness of himself across time, the mere existence of Dr. Manhattan dramatically changes the course of 20th century history, including thousands of inventions (such as the blimp-like airships that replace jets as the main means of aerial transportation) that are created as a result of Manhattan's abilities and knowledge.

History: With his amazing abilities, Dr. Manhattan is an obvious candidate to become not just a hero, but the world's only true super hero. However, his alignment with the U.S. government soon leads him to also becoming a pawn in America's military engagements (especially Vietnam), which Manhattan agrees to in no small part because of the detachment he now feels to the human race in general; after all, he is a sort of walking god. Dr. Manhattan has two romantic interests in his life, but both ultimately go badly, since he is so distanced from the emotions of normal human beings.

Concept: In comics, if a super hero doesn't have any actual super powers, some explanation has to be given for how they're able to go out and beat up criminals without being beaten up themselves, or even being killed outright. Usually, the writers just say that the character has learned to maximize what their body is able to achieve through training, and Ozymandias is an extreme example of that idea. Taking inspiration from Alexander the Great, Adrian Veidt taught himself how to use both his brain and body to their full potential, which includes his claim that he can catch bullets with his bare hands. Being so super smart, Ozymandias has also bio-engineered his own unique pet, the strange big cat called Bubastis.

History: Not much is actually known of Ozymandias' early career as a costumed adventurer, except that he was responsible for taking down Moloch the Mystic, and was among those who were recruited to join a group of adventurers. When the Keene Act outlawed costumed vigilanties, Adrian Veidt was quite content to retire and focus on his corporate empire. Veidt Industries is a large, hi-tech corporation with varied divisions, not the least of which is one that creats action figures based on Veidt's former exploits as well as the likenesses of the other heroes.

Man, Watchmen is gonna be so frigging awesome.

Opening This Week

Hello People.

Here are the movies that would be coming out this week. Basically, I just show the ones that would be interesting.

This one would be out 5th March 2008, that's Thursday:

1) Push

Plot:

The Division, a shadowy government agency, is genetically transforming citizens into an army of psychic warriors. Nick Gant (Chris Evans), a second-generation telekinetic or "mover", has found sanctuary in Hong Kong and is eventually forced out of hiding when Cassie Holmes (Dakota Fanning), a 13-year-old clairvoyant or "watcher" seeks his help in finding Kira, (Camilla Belle) an escaped "pusher" who may hold the key to ending the Division's program. Pushers possess the most dangerous of all psychic powers: the ability to influence others' actions by implanting thoughts in their minds. However, the unlikely duo lands themselves square in the crosshairs of Division Agent Henry Carver (Djimon Hounsou), a pusher who will stop at nothing to keep them from achieving their goal.

Seems interesting, but would be over ultimately overshadowed by the next movie..

This one opens on the 6th of March, that's Friday:

2) Watchmen (M18)

Plot:

In a gritty and alternate 1985 America, the glory days of costumed vigilantes have been brought to a close by a government crackdown. However, after one of the masked veterans is brutally murdered, an investigation is initiated. The retired superheroes reunite and set out to prevent their own destruction with an extra mission to watch over humanity. In the course of doing so, they unwittingly discover a deeper and far more diabolical plot.

Hmm. Another superhero movie. But this one would be so cool, too bad it's M18. Sneak in. Should be really worth a watch!

So that's it. Enjoy and visit the theaters soon!

Ciao..
