Hello People! I bought some rock magazine and was reading through it yesterday, while I was really bored. I happened to come across this small little article that got me going "what the hell". According to two researches in the UK, headbanging can cause some severe shit. Read this: Objective: To investigate the risks of mild traumatic brain injury and neck injury associated with head banging, a popular dance form accompanying heavy metal music. Design: Observational studies, focus group, and biomechanical analysis. Participants: Head bangers. Main outcome measures: Head Injury Criterion and Neck Injury Criterion were derived for head banging styles and both popular heavy metal songs and easy listening music controls. Results: An average head banging song has a tempo of about 146 beats per minute, which is predicted to cause mild head injury when the range of motion is greater than 75°. At higher tempos and greater ranges of motion there is a risk of neck injury. Conclusion: To minimize the risk of head and neck injury, head bangers should decrease their range of head and neck motion, head bang to slower tempo songs by replacing heavy metal with adult oriented rock, only head bang to every second beat, or use personal protective equipment. Therefore, I'm fucked! Cause I like headbang every day, so yeah..you get the idea. Moving on to something else, which is also another news that I read this morning cause I was once again bored while I was online. Hold your horses Twilight fans, cause you might get all pissed. Apparently, the famous master of horror, Stephen King thinks Twilight is well..BULLSHIT! Here is what he had to say: In an interview with USA Weekend, the bestselling author compared Meyer with J.K. Rowling , the author of the Harry Potter series. According to Stephen, "Both Rowling and Meyer, they're speaking directly to young people... The real difference is that Jo Rowling is a terrific writer and Stephenie Meyer can't write worth a darn. She's not very good." While Stephen may not be a fan of Stephenie's writing, he understands the appeal of the series. "People are attracted by the stories, by the pace and in the case of Stephenie Meyer, it's very clear that she's writing to a whole generation of girls and opening up kind of a safe joining of love and sex in those books. It's exciting and it's thrilling and it's not particularly threatening because it's not overtly sexual." He further explains, "A lot of the physical side of it is conveyed in things like the vampire will touch her forearm or run a hand over skin, and she just flushes all hot and cold. And for girls, that's a shorthand for all the feelings that they're not ready to deal with yet." Hm..I have not read Twilight yet so I can't really say much. I really don't have the time for Twilight since I'm having problems finishing my own books. I also cleaned up my wall today. Just one wall. My posters were like super old so I cleared most of them. Just kept a few cause they really mean something to me. Now, my wall near my bed has just..4 posters. LOLS. Alright. Enjoy your day. I'm gonna go buy chips and start reading! Ciao.. |
